hardcore printing

When it comes to printing, Rachael and I don't mess around. We started printing around 1pm on Saturday and ended at 5am Sunday. Yes folks, that's 16 hours of printing...well 15 hours and a delicious lunch. We even got to see the sunrise on our way to back to Rochester. Despite the insanely long day, it was actually pretty fun. There were plenty of impromptu dance sessions and singing to make up for the irritability and swollen hands! After 3000 runs yesterday, added to the 3000 Rachael finished earlier, calendar printing is finished. And I have to say, it looks AMAZING! You can check it out at Ink + Wit or Pistachio Press. Buy some for those favorite people in your life!

dishes galore!

Here are the promised pictures of my fabulous 82-piece dinnerware set- purchased for only $19.50! The set includes serving dishes, berry bowls, soup bowls, dinner plates, saucers, cups, bread plates, and a cute little sugar bowl. Thanks to Rachael for pointing them out and talking me into buying them (though it obviously didn't take much persuasion)!!

marathon printing

Rachael and I spent over 8 hours yesterday letterpressing greeting cards for the upcoming secondstorie} indie market. The cards are simply fabulous!! Those in the area should stop by Friday or Saturday and check out all Pistachio Press has to offer!

new addition

I'm happy to announce Aidyn's arrival! Amber delivered the little 8-pound wonder on August 19th. The pictures do not do this girl justice! I can't wait to go back to Elmira and snuggle her!

thrifting goodness

I found this lovely piece of serving ware at rehouse for only $2! It works perfectly for veggies and dip and will fit in nicely at the fifties party!

I found this fabulous 8 piece snack set at a garage sale store in Brockport. I paid $2.99-what a steal! I haven't had a chance to use them yet but I do hear them calling for a nice slice of pie and tea.

**Stay tuned for pictures of an 82 piece dinnerware set I bought for $19. Yes folks-82 pieces for less than 20 big ones! They don't call me the thrifter extraordinaire for nothing!

riding the short bus

A short bus adventure took place last weekend as we rode to the German Festival. Delicious cake, beer sliding, and mooning mark the highlights of a Saturday filled with awesomeness.

camping goodness

After hearing many complaints about my lack of updating, I thought it was about time to post on my exciting life. This past weekend I enjoyed a wonderful weekend camping at my Aunt and Uncle's property in Big Flats, NY. It rained for the first day and half, but luckily they have a pavilion for such occasions. Not only was there thunder and lighting, but it actually hailed! The rest of the time was beautiful and sunny. Our time was spent playing games, canoeing, swimming, riding the gator through the woods, playing horseshoes and hitting golf balls. Each day Aunt Sandy brought us treats, including blueberry shortcake (with whipped cream and fresh biscuits!), AMAZING blueberry muffins, and pitchers of margaritas! The blueberries were handpicked-we both have nasty sunburns to prove it! Uncle Joe even made steaks for the meat eaters in honor of Luke's birthday. Speaking of Luke, please direct yourself to his blog if you want more camping info-including an awesome bog video (which I highly recommend)!

I couldn't resist posting the picture of a few of us huddled together during the storm. Stayed tuned...more pictures will be posted on my flickr account.

pistachio press goodness

My sister amazes me. I don't know how she received all the talent in the family, but at least she puts it to good use! Check out her new etsy store and buy yourself some fabulous handmade items!

amazing women

I watched Iron Jawed Angels yesterday and was completely blown away by Alice Paul and her team of suffragettes. The passion and drive these women possessed is awe-inspiring. I will not be taking my vote for granted anytime soon!

positively delightful

I absolutely adore these cheese markers from Beehive Kitchenware. They would be perfect for the fifties housewife birthday bash! I'm also quite fond of the Beehive measuring spoons posted on Erin's blog.

under the boardwalk

Well my dear blog readers, it's official, I will be vacationing in sunny Bethany Beach. Rachael, mom and I (and perhaps the husbands) will be heading to Delaware in August to spend a few relaxing days lying on the beach and strolling the boardwalk. My grandmother's cousin owns a beach home there and she has graciously opened its doors to us. August can't come soon enough!

life at its finest

I have been so bad at updating this blog lately. Here is an update of my many blogless days...

Two Saturdays ago, Rachael accepted her grant at the Saltonstall Foundation in Ithaca. The pictures fail to capture how beautiful this place is. I would just love to do a research residency here (if only it was possible!)

During my weekend trip back to Elmira I was introduced to two vintage sewing machines that I may one day call my own. After a trip to the repair shop, these beauties are coming home with me! (sorry for the horrible picture quality!)

Last Thursday, Amber and I enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of shopping, deliciousness, and a good ole fashioned hoedown! We started our day at :nook, where I found a fabulous 50s style apron (picture coming soon!) and two children's books for Aidyn. Our next stop was Godiva's where I found a fabulous vintage dress for the 1950s housewife birthday extravaganza! To finish off, we had a spectacular meal at Open Face. Now, for the main event. Amber and I had the pleasure of seeing Old Crow Medicine Show at Water Street Music Hall. We witnessed over two hours of pure awesomeness. Fabulous band, amazing show!
On Saturday, Rachael and I helped Abbey and Phil move into their fabulous new apartment. It took a few solid hours to unload the beastly truck and hike the stairs to the apartment. Luckily, I was mostly in charge of keeping an eye on their new addition, Emmett Furious. What an absolutely adorable little boy! Here he is, looking quite dapper, among the moving mess.

virtual goodness

How much do you just LOVE this booth? This peach pit-esque beauty is being sold on craigslist for 300 bones. Time to upgrade to a larger apartment!

Aren't these stairs a fabulous idea? I'm so in love with this site-thanks to Alex for the introduction!

thrifticane

Lindsey and I went on an adventure to the Goodwill today. I lucked out and found a 16 piece, stoneware dinnerware set! Not only is it fabulous, but it doesn't look like it has ever been used. One mug is chipped, but that can be overlooked. The best part? I got it for $7! In addition to my new dinnerware set, I am now the proud owner of two fancy martini glasses, also compliments of the Goodwill.

On the way back from our thrifting adventure we got caught in a spectacular storm. There was plenty of flooding and fallen branches (including one in my front yard). To make it even better, my road was blocked off due to a fallen tree! What a fabulous day!

thrifting adventures

I found this liquor cabinet at rehouse. I think it is absolutely fabulous and is now in dire need of being used. The ice bucket was found at a thrifting paradise in Lima, while the shaker, glasses, and stir sticks were picked up at Amber's neighborhood yard sale. The awful liquor was a gift from Rachael-I'm sure she was happy to part with it.

These trays came in a set of 4 and were also purchased at the store in Lima. They work perfectly for cheese and crackers!

This extra comfy, fancy ottoman was also picked up on the Lima thrifting adventure. The legs fold down for easy storage or pillow usage.

This fabulous suitcase was found during Amber's neighborhood sale. It came with a small carrying case that went to Rachael. The luggage tag says it traveled from Rochester, NY to Tampa, FL--how perfect!

The bottles and purse were found during the enormous Browncroft yard sale. I'm hoping to put rice and other kitchen things in the bottles.

everyone loves a good onesie

My good friend Amber will be having a daughter, Aidyn, in August and Rachael was kind enough to help me screenprint this fabulous onesie for her. I'm hoping to make a few more before Aidyn arrives!

a traveling must-have

I am currently babysitting for a child who will soon be on his way to sunny California. His upcoming adventure got me thinking about traveling and a fantastic passport holder I recently found on buyolympia. This particular holder is entitled Assume Crash Positions and fits a passport and two forms of identification. Fabulous!

The inside is made from paint swatches (how ingenious!).

For those seeking a less morbid passport holder, tinymeat has other fabulous selections on buyolympia and etsy.

ode to the oyster

I recently bought this ring on etsy from ringsbymarie. I've been on a pearl kick lately and am quite thrilled to add this to the collection. My next step is to find a strand of pearls similar to those seen (stereotypically) on 1950s housewives.

fabulous dresses

I have a mild obsession with dresses from the 40s and 50s. Here are a few I found on ebay. I would love to spend a night out on the town in one of these!
This dress even comes with a reversible jacket! (The other side matches the dress)
